Dunbar Band Staff
Jeff Hood, Director
     Mr. Hood has been the Director of Bands at PLD since 1998, and served as Assistant Director in 1996-1998. He is a native of Columbia, Kentucky and a graduate of Adair County High School. He earned his BA in Music Education from Western Kentucky University in 1977. Upon graduation, he became Band Director at Beechwood High School, and later at George Rogers Clark High School, where he led them to their first State Championship in 1986. He is one of only six band directors in KMEA history to win state marching band championships at two different schools. He also has taken two schools to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (GRC in 1987 and PLD in 2007). Under his direction the PLD Marching Band has had many accomplishments: KMEA State Champions in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007; Bands of America Regional Champions in 2004, 2005, 2008; and a Bands of America Grand Nationals Semi- Finalist in 2006. In 2006 the PLD Band was awarded its second Sudler Shield from the John Philip Sousa Foundation for World Class Excellence in Music.

Brian Morgan, Assistant Director
     Mr. Morgan has been with the PLD band since the school opened in 1990, first as a percussion instructor and later as Assistant Band Director and Jazz Band Director. Mr. Morgan earned his BA in Music Education from the University of Kentucky. He later earned his Masters in Music Composition from Eastern Kentucky University. Mr. Morgan's passion for percussion can be felt in the heartbeat of the PLD band. Mr. Morgan has also written several award winning shows for bands across Kentucky including Beechwood's Class A Bands of America Grand National Championship in 2006.

David Tippett, Music Specialist
     Dave is a widely respected Jazz Ensemble and Marching Band Clinician and adjudicator for numerous festivals throughout the U.S. He has worked as the Music Specialist for the PLD Marching Band for the past 8 years. Dave also serves as a Teaching Artist for Aesthetic Education through Lincoln Center for the Arts in New York City. His involvement in the Pageantry Arts Activity has spanned over 30 years. Working with many groups through the years such as The Blue Stars, Star of Indiana, and Caption Head for The Glassmen (87-97), Carolina Crown, Garfield Cadets, and Capital Regiment. He has also served as the Director of the Toledo Jazz Orchestra and the assistant director of the University of Toledo Marching Band.

Brian Robinson, Color Guard Director
     PLD welcomed Brian and his staff during the 2009 season, bringing excitement and experience to the program. Brian is a Dunbar Band alumnus, who played Baritone in the 2003 State Champion Band (the first one in Class AAAA) and was also a member of the 2004 Winter Guard Tri-State Championship. After graduating from PLD, Brian marched with the Madison Scouts (Madison, WI), Santa Clara Vanguard (Santa Clara, CA), Cadets (Bergen County, NJ), where he had a lead role in the mad hatter, and the Cavaliers (Rosemont, IL), who won high guard at DCI that year. He also marched 4 years at the Pride of Cincinnati, winning 2 golds and 2 silvers.
